Your Home Exterior Can be Complimented with Decorative Views

With an uncertain housing market and even more uncertain economic times, more and more people are turning to adding value to their homes. Apart from the obvious such as extensions and conservatories, there are other things that can be done.

By improving the overall look of a property its value will also be enhanced and one way to do this is by improving the look of the exterior. Compliment decorative exteriors with wooden shutters and add a quality perhaps not shown by your neighbours' houses.

Wooden shutters for the exterior come in a couple of forms and these are decorative and also practical. A decorative shutter does what it says on the tin. It hangs and it looks good! The second type not only looks good, but can be used to shield the windows. (more...)

Great Solutions for Exteriors Using Shutters

Exterior shutters were a common feature in many older English cottages, and they are very popular on the continent as well. Nowadays, there has been a resurgence in interest in shutters for exteriors in England once more, and for good reason, as they offer many benefits.

Shutters were traditionally used to keep the heat out of a house and this is still a valid reason to use them, as it seems to get more humid with every year that passes. Of course, they also have a decorative appeal and on the right buildings, look absolutely wonderful.

Inside Meets Outside with Window Projects for All

Adding shutters to the windows of a house does not only add value in a decorative sense, but it also helps to break down the barriers between indoors and outdoors. There are many projects for windows inside and out that one can undertake to achieve this.

Using shutters on windows can be done in two ways and this depends on the style of window in question. A window which is flush to the inside wall will not suit interior shutters, whereas one with a window sill will. (more...)

Bringing Gardens Inside from Out is a Lifestyle Choice

Many of us can find that we live a quite segregated life, with the walls of our house not only cutting us off from the outside world, but also from nature. More and more people are finding ways to redress this imbalance and add a little more nature into their lives.

Interior design meets exteriors could be one term for it, but really, it is about breaking down the barriers and having a merger between inside and outside. This way, there is a gradual transition to walking outside.

A conservatory is an ideal transition point, where it is possible to fit shutter doors which swing out onto the outside. By having a merger between inside and out, via mats on the ground outside and exterior lighting, with plants on the inside, this is also achieved. (more...)
